April Cinema Selection from TV5MONDE

This week we take a look at some of the great classic French films that TV5MONDE will be screening for free online in April. Here are some of the highlights.

The April line-up commences with Lucky Jo, directed by previous Festival guest Michel Deville. There’s also the original 1951 version of Knock, by Guy Lefranc. It was later re-made into the 1997 version, Dr Knock, starring Festival favourite Omar Sy. Also screening is Marc Allégret’s romantic comedy Julietta starring Jeanne Moreau, a past patron of the Festival.

All films will be available to watch on TV5MONDE live via their website, or via the new TV5MONDE Smart TV App for Samsung / Android / Amazon Fire TVs at their scheduled time, just like in the cinema – tune in at the scheduled time and sit back and enjoy the film. Five great French titles from Glasgow Film Festival

This week we take a look at some of the French films that are coming up online at Glasgow Film Festival this year. It runs from Wednesday 24 February to Sunday 7 March.

From the directors of Blue Dog, featured in last year’s Short Cuts programme, one of the highlights is the Fanny Liatard and Jérémy Trouilh romantic urban fantasy, Gagarine. Set in a Paris housing estate, it’s a joyful celebration of community, love and shooting for the stars.

The Festival closes with the UK premiere of Suzanne Lindon’s remarkably assured directorial debut Spring Blossom. Delicately evoking the worlds of Francois Truffaut and Eric Rohmer, Lindon proves herself a dazzling new screen talent in a complete charmer of a film. Gagarine

A deeply romantic urban fantasy, Gagarine marks a beguiling feature-length debut from directors Fanny Liatard and Jérémy Trouilh. Built in the 1960s and named after Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the Gagarine housing estate in Paris has been earmarked for demolition.

Last chance to catch this year’s MyFrenchFilmFestival

We hope you’ve been enjoying our top selections from this year’s MyFrenchFilmFestival. As there’s only a few days left of the Festival, we take a look at more of our favourites. From short films to features, and documentaries to animations, there’s something for everyone. They’re all available to watch until Monday 15 February.

Included in the line-up is Aurel’s haunting animation Josep, which was first screened at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. Younger audiences will enjoy Javier Navarro Avilés‘ fantasy animation Dalia’s World, part of the official selection at this years Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

This time we take a look at some of the great films that TV5MONDE will be screening for free online in February. Here are some of the highlights.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day on 14 February they’ll be screening Isabelle Mergault’s comedy Je vous trouve très beau about a farmer from the countryside looking for love. Daniel Auteuil (from 2019 Festival favourite La Belle Epoque) stars in another Isabelle Mergault comedy Donnant, donnant later in the month.
