The film follows an ageing shepherd who struggles to find a successor as bears prey on his flock, and a teenage boy who becomes obsessed with tracking the bears. Through its breath-taking cinematography and immersive storytelling, this modern folktale tells of tradition, community and humanity’s relationship with a vanishing natural world. UK film-maker Max Keegan moved to France for three years to make it.
Advisory content: upsetting scenes, strong language
"Lyrical, visually and aurally ravishing … an ecological vision that is wordlessly embedded in every shot."
