Edinburgh – Institut Français d’Ecosse

November 20, 2024 @ 18:30

A strained husband and wife have their relationship tested by a visit from an uninhibited young couple.

After 25 years together, married life has taken its toll on Xavier (Bernard Campan) and Sophie (Isabelle Carré). Their already strained daily life is put to the test when Sophie invites their neighbours, Adèle and Alban, a promiscuous couple who are very much in love, to dinner. This irritates Xavier, not least because of their lack of discretion. On coming face-to-face with the uninhibited couple, Xavier and Sophie will be forced to confront their own, sad reality, culminating in an indecent proposal.

Winner of four awards at the Festival International du Film de Comédie de l’Alpe d’Huez, the film delivers a profound exploration of the intricacies of human relationships, marked by the contrast between the monotony of everyday life and buried desires.

"At last, a comedy that really makes you laugh … very well acted." - SensCritique
