Edinburgh – Institut Français d’Ecosse

November 15, 2023 @ 18:00

A heartwarming and inspiring story that tells how sometimes, the worst thing that could happen may turn out to be the best.

A partnership between director Cédric Klapisch and London-based Israeli choreographer Hofesh Shechter who appears as himself – the film focusses on real dancers really dancing. There are no body doubles and no illusions. Élise (Marion Barbeau) is a talented ballet dancer whose life is turned upside down by an injury, and again when she catches her boyfriend cheating on her with her understudy. On a path to physical and emotional recovery, she travels from Paris to Brittany, where she embraces the artistic freedom of contemporary dance and new ways to reinvent herself.

"Barbeau’s presence is nothing short of a star-making turn. " - The Guardian
