TITANE (N/C 18)

WATCH THE TRAILER

A girl is injured in a car accident as her father explodes at her for humming too loudly. To save her life, surgeons insert a titanium plate into her head, which seems to give her a metal fetish. As a grown woman, Alexia (Agathe Rousselle in her first film role) is an exotic dancer at car shows, sexually aroused by the cars themselves. Also, she’s a serial killer.

Titane, loaded with graphic horrors, surprisingly won this year’s Palme d’Or, the highest honour at the Cannes Film Festival, only the second film directed by a woman Julie Ducournau to have done so. Ducournau already had one cult hit with the cannibal movie Raw, and with Titane‘s success, she has established herself as a horror auteur.

Director: Julia Ducournau
Cast: Nathalie Boyer, Vincent Lindon, Agathe Rousselle, Myriem Akheddiou, Dominique Frot
