French Film Festival is seeking a Producer to develop & deliver all-embracing and diverse content for the 2019 edition of the festival

Location: Edinburgh

French Film Festival is Scotland’s only Festival of French and Francophone cinema, taking place all over Scotland from 1 November until 12 December. It stretches from Orkney and Shetland to Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling, St Andrews, and many other locations. The Festival also covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland, but the post would be Scottish focussed and run from October to mid-December and be based in the event’s organisational HQ at Summerhall (www.summerhall.co.uk). Remote working will be allowed when necessary.

 The Festival seeks a Producer to work with the Festival directors to develop and assure the smooth running of the 2019 edition, the 27th.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Co-ordinating events
  • Securing venues for the festival, liaising with owners and operators
  • Liaise with sponsors
  • Working with cinemas and venues
  • Working to ensure all events are open and accessible
  • Hiring and working with translators and interpreters when necessary
  • Managing guest travel and accommodation
  • Line manage Press and PR Officer, Marketing Officer and Logistics Coordinator
  • Contribute to festival scheduling
  • Maintain good lines of communication with the rest of the FFF UK team
  • Some travel across Scotland

Person specification: 

  • Previous experience in a similar festival role, preferably within film festivals
  • Knowledge of cinemas and cinema-going culture
  • Experience of event production
  • Experience of bringing projects in on time and within budget
  • A collaborative attitude, working within a small team
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • IT skills, working knowledge of administrative software such as Microsoft Office suites

The Festival seeks a Press and PR officer to work with the Festival directors to stimulate media interest in the 2019 edition, the 27th.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Organise interviews with visiting talent
  • Run interview schedules
  • Organise Scottish media launch
  • Originate and circulate media and information releases
  • Provide images and online content
  • Embrace and develop online activity
  • Looking after the needs of headline sponsors
  • Organising any special screenings as required
  • Some travel across Scotland

French Film Festival is seeking a Logistics co-ordinator to ensure on-time print delivery and circulation for the 2019 edition of the festival.

French Film Festival is Scotland’s only Festival of French and Francophone cinema, taking place all over Scotland from 1 November until 12 December. It extends from Orkney and Shetland to Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling, St Andrews, and many other locations. The Festival also covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland, but the post would be Scottish focussed and run from late September to end-November and be based in the event’s organisational HQ at Summerhall (www.summerhall.co.uk). Remote working will be possible as required.

The Festival seeks a logistics co-ordinator to work with the Festival directors to ensure on-time print delivery and circulation to venues in collaboration with technical service provider Éclair for the 2019 edition, the 27th.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Liaison with venues throughout Scotland
  • Organise transport of physical copies with London lab ECLAIR
  • Monitor pick-up and delivery of copies as required
  • Issue KDM keys as required to cinemas (training given)
  • Some travel across Scotland

  • Production of posters, flyers, advertising and brochures in conjunction with designer
  • Pursuing links with communities/charitable institutions
  • Liaison with non-traditional venues.
  • Dialogue with existing sponsors and funders
  • Seeking partnerships with companies interested in harmonising with a showcase for French culture.
  • Some travel across Scotland

The Festival seeks a Technical assistant to work with the Festival directors to look at innovative ways of raising the profile of the 2019 edition

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Production of on-screen and online content including trailers and stings
  • Replication of material
  • Addition of provided subtitles as required
  • Uploading content to cinemas via lab Éclair or by other means
  • Liaison with cinemas and electronic providers Éclair

  • Experience of editing and working with associated equipment

TWO TRAINEESHIPS

French Film Festival is seeking two trainees to work and learn within the structure of the 2019 edition of the festival

French Film Festival is Scotland’s only Festival of French and Francophone cinema, taking place all over Scotland from 1 November until 12 December. It extends from Orkney and Shetland to Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling, St Andrews, and many other locations. The Festival also covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland, but the post would be Scottish focused and run from October to mid-December and be based in the event’s organisational HQ at Summerhall (www.summerhall.co.uk) Remote working will be allowed when necessary.

The Festival seeks two Trainees to work with the Festival directors and other department heads to help with various tasks in press, marketing and technical as well as programming and events.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Back-up help for heads of press, marketing and technical
  • Assistance in programming
  • Help in organising events and workhops
  • Surveying audience members in cinemas
  • Meeting and greeting at special events
  • Accompanying Festival guests as required

 

Person specification:

  • Previous experience in a similar festival role useful but not essential as training will be given
  • Knowledge of cinemas and cinema-going culture would be beneficial
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines
