Dir Bruno Dumont

Bruno Dumont’s second film about the historical heroine premiered in the Un Certain Regard sidebar in Cannes last year. Adapted once again from the early 20th century theatrical works of writer and poet Charles Peguy, this second instalment follows the legend through her different battles against the English in 1429 on to her capture, trial and eventual execution only two years later. This is an incredible but true saga. The entire film is peppered with lip-synched musical numbers composed by French rocker Christophe. Dumont was given a special mention by the Un certain regard jury at last year’s Cannes Film Festival.

“A film of genuine spiritual dimension.”
