OUR STRUGGLES / NOS BATAILLES (N/C 15+)

Belgian-born Francophone director Guillaume Senez who impressed with his first feature, Keeper, again looks at fatherhood, though the dad in question (played by Romain Duris) is now an adult with two children. Suddenly he is abandoned by his wife and has to try and keep the household going by himself. Olivier’s sister Betty (Laetitia Dosch), an actress, has time to come and help out and occasionally their mother, Joelle (Dominique Valadie), pitches in as well. The drama is intense and true to life with the same impressive punch as Keeper which dealt with a 15-year-old youngster with dreams of becoming a football player but who gets his girlfriend pregnant and becomes a father instead.
